RUSSELL J. BRAUN

Russell J. Braun, 73, of Hutchinson, formerly of Brownton, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2024, surrounded by family at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. Funeral Service was held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson with interment in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Stewart.

He was the son of Wilbur and Mary (Goelz) Braun. Russell was baptized as an infant on September 24, 1950, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on April 9, 1961, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. Russell was a graduate of Redwood Falls High School, class of 1968.

Russell was employed as a welder for Glencoe Manufacturing and also farmed in rural Arlington. Russell enjoyed sewing, fishing, baking, gardening, and canning. He also enjoyed working on tractors and building fish houses. Russell loved listening to polka and 50s music. He especially cherished spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.

Russell is survived by his daughters, Hollie (Frank) Rutkowski of Carver, Jody (Russell) Miller of Dassel, Sara Shurtleff of Hutchinson, Stacy (Jared) Pedersen of Gilbert, Dawn Braun of Sacred Heart; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Elaine Molenaar, Wilbur Braun, Jr., Monica (Duane) Becker, John Braun, RoseMary Braun, Barb Pichotta, Sharon (Todd) Redman, Karen Braun; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Russell is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Mary Braun; sister, Marlene Braun; brothers, Gerald Braun, Ralph Braun.
