It’s about that time of year when folks start to post on social media asking if there is a Hutchinson fireworks show. Others will chime in and respond in a variety of ways ranging from “No, there isn’t one” to “Don’t get us started.” The truth is, the Fourth of July was once a big deal in Hutchinson.

GUY K. BURNISON

Guy K. Burnison, 64, of rural Hutchinson passed away on Monday June 3, 2024, at his home. Memorial Service was held Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson with interment held at a later date Rest Haven Cemetery in Alpena, S.D. Clergy Officiating: Chaplain Jill Davis; Special Music (CD): “Free Bird”, “The Old Rugged Cross”, “On Eagle’s Wings”, “Do You Feel Like We Do”; Urn Bearers: Grant Burnison, Shanna Burnison Guy Kelly Burnison was born on September 29, 1959, in Robbinsdale. He was the son of Robert and Doris (Groenhoff) Burnison. Guy was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith as a youth. He received his education in Buffalo and was a graduate of Buffalo High School class of 1978. Guy furthered his education at Anoka Vo-tech College in 1981. Guy also received certification at Metals Engineering Institute in 1987. Guy grew up in Buffalo and had moved to Hutchinson in 1986, where he resided. He was married to Diane Gardner in 1986. They were married for 13 years and blessed with two beautiful children, Grant and Shanna. Guy was employed as a CNC machinist for 3M. He retired in 2019. Guy was a lifetime member of the NRA, Gopher Campfire, and Gopher Wheeler’s Club. Guy enjoyed shooting his guns, eating food with his loved ones, and spending time at his homestead. Guy enjoyed four-wheeling in “Big Red” and on his Husqvarna dirt bike. He enjoyed taking his boat out and especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends. Guy enjoyed watching television shows such as Star Trek, Big Bang Theory, The Price is Right, and cooking shows on Sunday morning as well as church. Blessed be his memory. BENJAMIN “BENNY” L. SEEFELDT

Benjamin “Benny” L. Seefeldt, 19, of Ellsworth Township, rural Darwin, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024, in rural Cokato. Memorial Service was held Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Darwin with interment in the church cemetery. He was the son of William “Bill” III and Xriska (Velizaroff) Seefeldt. Benny was baptized on August 5, 2007. He received his education in Dassel and was a graduate with the Dassel-Cokato High School class of 2023. In high school, Benny participated in cross country, swimming, track, boxing, and weight lifting. Benny resided in Ellsworth Township, rural Darwin. He was employed in production at 3M. Benny was in the process of starting his own pressure washing company. Benny was a thoughtful, giving, and kind young man. He was bright and full of positivity. Benny was always willing to help others. He always had a smile on his face, and with a twinkle in his bright blue eyes. Benny took joy in making others laugh. Benny attended St. John’s Catholic Church in Darwin. Benny liked playing video games, going to the gym, and going for drives. Family was important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them and his friends. Blessed be his memory.
