Hutchinson looks to continue net success
Tennis team hopes to assemble pieces to defend conference title Coming off a strong 12-5 season, including a 4-0 record in Wright County Conference play, the Hutchinson girls tennis team is poised for another competitive season. Coach Todd Card sees similarities to last season in the 2024 edition, and the Tigers success will depend in part on how well seasoned singles players can mesh with new doubles pairings.

Depth will be Tigers’ strength this season
Despite key loss, girls team looks to continue success Hutchinson’s girls cross country team made history last season with its first state meet appearance since 1999. The Tigers hope for a repeat performance this season, although it will not be easy due to the loss of their top runner from last season.

Tigersharks return strong core
State meet experience expected to bolster team Replacing one state meet competitor will be a tall order, but the Hutchinson girls swimming and diving team has a solid foundation to build upon as it enters this season. Coach Rory Fairbanks, who’s entering his 25th season at Hutchinson, said the Tigersharks are focused on building upon their strengths and cultivating new talent as they prepare for the 2024 season.
Tomlinson to speak Aug. 31 at Dassel History Center
Dassel native Dr. Tim Tomlinson will speak on “The Road Less Traveled: The Joy of the Journey” 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Dassel History Center, 901 Front St. N. This event will take place during the city’s Red Rooster Days celebration.
HCA is seeking art for upcoming exhibit
Hutchinson Center for the Arts, 218 Main St. S., is hosting “Visible,” a new exhibit Sept.
Bloodmobile donors give 142 units
Red Cross Bloodmobile visited Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson Aug. 13, collecting 142 units. Milestones were reached by the following: 13 gallons: Rhonda Crotteau; 8 gallons: Michael Edberg; 4 gallons: Scott Wicklund; 3 gallons: Melissa Sanken; 2 gallons: Cindy Gregor, Karen Braaten and Andrew Wilke; 1 gallon: Zachery Hausladen, Terri Edberg, Jacqui Field, Genessa Sadler, Tory Piehl and Katie Varpness. First time donor: Paige Hertell.

A job well done …
Three months ago, it was a dream. Today it’s a reality. Hutchinson folks stepped up and worked together to raise more than $102,500 to build a fence for the deer at the Gopher Campfire Wildlife Sanctuary. Last week, Oberg Fence employees were putting the finishing touches on the viewing portion along the north side of the sanctuary.
