Richard “Dick” A. Olson, 89, of Hutchinson passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Ecumen Pines in Hutchinson. Funeral Service was held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Oak Heights Covenant Church in Hutchinson with interment in Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson Clergy Officiating: Pastor Steve Larson and Pastor Mike Newsom; Pianist: Judy Voss Congregational Hymns: “Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty”, “In the Garden”, “When We All Get to Heaven”; Casket Bearers: Mark Olsen, Bob Ostroot, Ben Michels, Jeff Matz, Derek Niemeyer, Tim Ellis; Military Honors: Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad Richard “Dick” Andrew Olson was born on December 15, 1934, in Hutchinson. He was the son of Arthur and Vera (Withee) Olson. Dick was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith as a youth. He received his education in Hutchinson and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School, class of 1952. Dick furthered his education at Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis for auto mechanic.
Dick entered active military service in the United States Army on April 15, 1958, in Glencoe and served his country during Peace Time. He received an Honorable Discharge on April 14, 1960, at Fort MacArthur, Calif., and achieved the rank of Private First Class.
On November 22, 1967, Dick was united in marriage to Evangeline Speigner at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake. This marriage was blessed with seven children, Victoria, Marie, Mildred, Sandra, Steve, Penny, and Marilyn. They resided in Hutchinson, where they shared 35 years of marriage until Evangeline passed away on April 24, 2003.
Dick was employed as a mechanic for Holt Motors in Cokato. He retired on March 31, 2000. Dick was a member of Oak Heights Covenant Church in Hutchinson. He was also a member of Lamson Evangelical Free Church in Dassel.
Dick enjoyed tractor pulling and collecting classic cars. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.

Dick is survived by his daughters, Victoria Olson of Canada, Marie Wooden of St. Cloud, Mildred Ranniger and her husband Joe of St. Cloud, Penny Dietzel and her husband Darrin of Cologne, Marilyn Unze and her husband, David of Minnetonka, Sandy Hilborn and her husband Mark of Lakeville; grandchildren, Ryan Olson, Chantilly Olson, Kim Rodriguez, Skye Kallsen, Joey Lucius, Kryssy Feiler and Elijah Creech, Lily (Quinn) Carlson, Lynn (Josh) Winckleman, Laura Unze, Tim (Michelle) Hilborn, Jenna (Marty) Troska; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
