Hutchinson celebrated its annual homecoming early this year. Spirit Week activities included a bean bag tournament, pepfest/coronation, Wall of Fame honorees, parade, football game and a dance.
Friday and Saturday saw Library Square and adjacent First Avenue bursting to the seams with lookers and shoppers at the 50th annual Hutchinson Arts & Crafts Festival. There were times that the people were so thick in the aisles that it was hard to get close to a booth to see the merchandise.

September is here. School is underway. I love shopping for school supplies. The array of notebooks, paper, pens, pencils and organizational gadgets makes me smile. I like having a stockpile of paper and pens waiting to be used.
What parent hasn’t been there? It’s been a long day, you still have dinner to make, maybe lunches for tomorrow, too, and you just don’t have the energy to wrangle your kids into a new art project or plead with them to pick up a book.
