Fredrick “Fred” W. Hacker, 72, of rural Cosmos passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at his home in rural Cosmos. Memorial Service were Friday, October 25, 2024, 1 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos with interment in the church cemetery. He was the son of Walter and Annie (Plzak) Hacker.

Fred was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith as a youth. He received his education in Cosmos and was a graduate of Cosmos High School, class of 1971. On July 16, 1977, Fred was united in marriage to Kathy Laine in Brooklyn Park. This marriage was blessed with three children, Nicole, Jon, and Patrick. Fred and Kathryn made their home in rural Cosmos. They shared 47 years of marriage. Fred was employed as a metal worker and farmer. He worked for Palms Industries in Litchfield and Hutchinson Manufacturing Inc. in Hutchinson. Fred retired in 2007. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos. Fred enjoyed farming, tinkering, wood-cutting, and racing go-karts with his sons in Cedar Mills.

He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, granddaughters and friends. Blessed be his memory. Fred is survived by his wife Kathy (Laine) Hacker of rural Cosmos; children, Nicole Hacker of Cosmos, Jon Hacker of Murdock, Patrick Hacker of Missoula, Mont.; grandchildren, Bryanna Hacker of Cosmos, Acelynn, Chloe, Eliza, Alessah, and Bellamy Hacker of Kerkhoven; siblings, Marie King, Betty (Ralph) Bach, Virginia (Gayle) Flemming, David Hacker, Ed Hacker, Joe Hacker; brother-in-law, Robert (Marcy) Laine; sister-in-law, Sandra (David) Lenarz; aunts, Rosie Kiecker of Cosmos, Mary French of Lake Lillian; good friends, Duane (Grace) Kamrath, Laurel Schiro; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Annie Hacker; infant child in utero; infant grandchild, in utero; stepfather, Rufus Witte; sister, Barb Hacker; parents-in-law, Martin and Doris Laine; brothers-inlaw, Ron King, Stan Laine; sister-in-law, Linda Laine.
