Glen H. Templin, 79, of Hutchinson, formerly of Lester Prairie, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson. Private Family Memorial Service was held at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson with interment at a later date in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. He was the son of Herman and Loretta (Witthus) Templin.
Glen was baptized as an infant on October 7, 1945, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe and later confirmed in his faith as a youth on March 22, 1959, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Moltke Township, rural Gibbon. He received his education in Gibbon and was a graduate of Gibbon High School, class of 1963. Glen entered active military service in the United States Army on October 7, 1965, in Minneapolis and served his country during the Vietnam War. He received an honorable discharge on July 14, 1967, in Oakland, Calif., and achieved the rank of Specialist 4th Class. On April 19, 1969, Glen was united in marriage to Diane Kohls at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cedar Mills Township. This marriage was blessed with one daughter, Christine. Glen and Diane resided in Lester Prairie for 50 years before moving to Hutchinson in 2019. They shared 55 years of marriage.
Glen was employed as a carpenter and crew leader for Lester Builders in Lester Prairie. He retired in 2004 after 40 years of service. Glen was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. Glen enjoyed fishing, watching westerns on TV, and socializing with his family, grandchildren and friends. Blessed be his memory. Glen is survived by his wife Diane Templin of Hutchinson; daughter Christine Kaufmann and her significant other David Krienke of Kensington, grandchildren, Laurel, Jacob, and Ethan Kaufmann; Roger Kaufmann; many other relatives and friends.
