ROBERT “BOB” R. ROLANDER

Robert “Bob” R. Rolander, 84, of Hutchinson passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson. Funeral Service was Wednesday, May 29, 2024, 12 p.m. at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson with interment in Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson. Rolander was born on August 10, 1939, in Hutchinson. He was the son of Lydon “Al” and Lida (Heller) Rolander. Bob was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at Vineyard United Methodist Church in Hutchinson. He received his education in Hutchinson and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School class of 1957. Bob entered active military service in the United States Army on May 16, 1963, and served his country during the Vietnam War but was stationed in Germany. He received an Honorable Discharge on May 6, 1965, at Fort Hamilton, N.Y. and achieved the rank of Private First Class. Bob was employed at 3M for 31 years and 9 months until retiring on January 1, 1999. He was a charter member of the Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad and Past Commander of the VFW Post 906 and American Legion Post 96. Bob was also a member of Cedar Mills Rod and Gun Club, Gopher Campfire Club, Seam Squirrel of the Military Order of the Cootie (MOC) and a member of National Past Chef de Gare Club of 40 & 8. Bob loved the outdoors and enjoyed finding wildflowers, plants, and watching birds at the cottage by Belle Lake. He also enjoyed long motorcycle rides on his blue Harley and exploring many snowmobile trails with his Ski-Doo. Bob’s most recognized hobby was presenting his large military collection at shows every years with friends. He won several awards for his special displays. Walking for a good cause

Animal lovers and their pets came from a 100-mile radius of Hutchinson to participate in the annual Paws on Parade Pet Walk May 11 at the Heart of Minnesota Animal Shelter. Following the walk, it was fun in the sun for participants and visitors.
