Robert R. Dunning, 89, of Le Sueur passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Benedictine Living Center in St. Peter. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Le

j Sueur. Visitation will be held that morning at the church from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will be in Mound Cemetery in Le Sueur. A luncheon will follow the burial at the church social hall. Robert was born on July 11, 1935, in Rushmore to Russell and Verona (Terhark) Dunning. He grew up in Hutchinson. He attended Hutchinson High School and graduated in 1953. Following high school, Robert joined the United States Army where he served with the Military Police from 1955-1957. In this time, he served one year in Bordeaux, France. Robert was united in marriage to Janice Will on July 1, 1960, in Prior Lake. Together they raised their children in Sioux Falls, S.D., Worthington, Gaylord, Grand Rapids and Le Sueur. Janice later passed on in 1989. He married his second wife, Charlene, in 2004. He worked for Star Tribune for 31 years before he retired. Deciding he was not ready for retirement, Robert worked for another nine years at Bongards Cheese until his official retirement. After this, he lived in Rising Sun, Ind., with Charlene before moving back to Le Sueur in 2011. He would then spend many winters in Florida and Arizona. He always greeted people with a story and a smile. He loved his family, friends and baseball. Robert is survived by his children, Elizabeth (David) Meyer of Rockville, Meghan (Anthony) Busch of Mankato, Cormac (Marni) Dunning of Le Sueur, and Patrick (fiancé, Lauren) Dunning of Denver, Colo.; sister, Glee Domschot of Alexandria; sister-in-law, Katie Kneefe of Plymouth; Charlene’s children, Rick (Amy) Chase, Janice (Gary) Lay, and Amy Darlene Chase; grandchildren, Sarah (Nate) Raduns, Jacob Meyer, Abbey (Ryan) O’Conner, Elizabeth and Patrick Busch, and Kylie and Darbi Dunning; greatgrandchildren, Kinley, Julian, Nolan Raduns, Maddison, Meara, and Maeve O’Conner. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry Dunning, Janice Dunning (1989), Charlene Dunning (2011) and nephew, Jerry Jr.
