Marvin D. Hawker, 90, of Hutchinson passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Hutchinson Health in Hutchinson. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with interment in Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson. Gathering of Family and Friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Military Honors by Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad. POLICE BEAT

Jan. 12: Hutchinson Police responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch at the intersection of School Road Northwest/North High Drive Northwest. The vehicle — a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox — was eastbound on North High Drive Northwest,when the driver — Gretchen Tate Baune, 18, of Hutchinson — slowed to turn southbound on School Road Northwest. The vehicle slid and struck the stop sign at School Road Northwest. No reported injuries. No tows. Seatbelt worn. The driver was issued a citation for misdemeanor- traffic-duty to drive with due car speed greater than reasonable.

Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ

I must confess to you — I am divided from my brothers and sisters in Christ. There is a wall placed between us that simply has not come down. The reason? I actually do like the Kansas City Chiefs and want them to win. They are not my favorite team, but I have always liked them and enjoyed watching them play. I will be one of the few cheering for them on Sunday, which is why there is such a division.
