Marlys A. Warzecha, age 79, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025, at The Gardens of Winsted in Winsted, Minnesota. Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, April 25, 2025, 11:00 A.M., at the Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, with interment following in the Glencoe Catholic Cemetery in Glencoe. Visitation was held Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 P.M., at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe, and continued one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Marlys Adeline (Harbarth) Warzecha was born on June 14, 1945, in Glencoe, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Alvin and Eileen (Schauer) Harbarth. Marlys was baptized as an infant at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe and later confirmed in her faith as a youth at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord, Minnesota. She first attended county school, then completed school at Gaylord Public School in Gaylord.
Marlys converted from the Lutheran faith to the Catholic faith before the couple married. Marlys was united in marriage to Jerome Frank Warzecha on May 29, 1965, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Gaylord, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Glencoe, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Karen and Larry. Marlys and Jerome shared over 58 years together when Jerome passed away on January 27, 2024.
Marlys was first employed at Fingerhut in Gaylord for over 20 years. She was then employed for 10 years at Glencoe Regional Health in Glencoe as a housekeeper. Marlys was a faithful member of St. George Catholic Church in Glencoe until it closed, and joined the Church of St. Pius X soon thereafter. Marlys’ Catholic faith was important to her. Every night at 6:30 P.M., she would pray along with the Rosary that was on the Faribault Radio Station.
Marlys could be described as a kind and loving mother. She would do anything for her children. Marlys was a very hardworking person. She was an excellent cook! Family was important to Marlys. She always made sure that her, Jerome, and the kids went on a family trip every year to enjoy time together. Marlys enjoyed snowmobiling, riding 3-wheeler, fishing, and occasionally riding motorcycle. Marlys liked to watch basketball and cheer on the Minnesota Twins on TV.
Marlys is survived by her Son, Larry Warzecha, and his wife, Jodi, of Hutchinson, MN; Granddaughters, Breanna Garaghty and her husband, Max, of Hutchinson, MN, Elizabeth Warzecha of Hutchinson, MN, Courtney Breyer and her husband, Todd, of Glencoe, MN; Siblings, Lois Urban, and Doris Will; Great-Grandchildren, Charlotte Garaghty, Henry Garaghty, MaKynna Breyer, MaKayla Breyer, Jordan Breyer, Mackenzie Breyer; Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law, Joan Przybilla, Marlyn Bacon, and his wife, Laurie, Gary Warzecha and his wife, Jane; Nieces, Nephews, Other Relatives, and Friends.
Marlys was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Warzecha; Father and Mother, Alvin and Eileen Harbarth; Daughter, Karen Wimsatt and her husband, Peter; Sister, Mavis Frauendienst and her husband, Edwin; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Sebastian and Theresa Warzecha; Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law, Marvin Warzecha and his wife, Sandy, Alice Krottoschinsky and her husband, Richard, Ray Przybilla, Gerald Urban.
