Sharlene F. Hanke, 87, of Hutchinson passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Woodstone Senior Living in Hutchinson. Memorial Service was Friday, April 25, 2025, 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with interment in Oakland Cemetery, Hutchinson.

Sharlene Fay Hanke was born on April 7, 1938, in Green Bay, Wis. She was the daughter of Irvin and Glenys (Janssen) Skar. Sharlene was baptized on April 5, 1941, and later confirmed in her faith as a youth on May 31, 1953, both at Trinity Lutheran Church in Green Bay. She received her education in Green Bay and was a graduate of East High School, class of 1956.
Sharlene was blessed with three children, Julie, Michael, and Terri. On April 25, 1984, Sharlene was united in marriage to Kermit Hanke at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. Sharlene and Kermit resided and farmed in Collins Township and later made their home in Hutchinson. They shared 35 years of marriage until Kermit passed away on May 18, 2019.
Sharlene loved helping Kermit on their farm and tending to her favorite cats and calves. She was employed at Walmart for many years. Sharlene was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.
Sharlene enjoyed reading, playing dominoes, gardening, and following all of the Minnesota sports teams but always cheered for the Green Bay Packers when they were playing the Vikings. She also loved to go on trips to Branson, Mo., and taking family trips to Osakis. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.

Sharlene is survived by her children, Julie and her husband Stan of Eugene, Ore., Michael Palmer and his wife Patti of Eugene, Terri Richards and her husband Todd of Eugene; grandchildren, Kevin Palmer, James Palmer, Amanda, Nick, Sara Fitzgerald, Kayla Outka; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Austin, Jaxon, Ryker, Jordy Outka, Deegan Fitzgerald, Jordon Palmer, Joshua Palmer, Mikey Palmer, Remi Palmer; brother, Jerry Skar and his wife Josephine of Houston, Texas; many other relatives and friends.
Sharlene is preceded in death by her parents, Irvin Skar and Glenys McHugh; stepfather, Larry McHugh; husband, Kermit Hanke.
