ROBERT ANDERSON JR.

 Robert C. Anderson Jr., 77, was laid to rest with military honors on May 2, 2025, at Georgia National Military Cemetery, Canton, Ga. Robert was a 1965 graduate of Hutchinson High School and a U.S. Army Staff Sergeant (retired). He served two tours in Vietnam, supporting and participating in helicopter combat. His awards in­cluded the Silver Star awarded for “singular acts of valor or heroism,” the Air Combat Medal awarded for “single acts of heroism or meritori­ous achievements while participat­ing in aerial flight,” and the bronze star (with two oak leaf clusters) awarded for “heroic or meritorious achievement or service in a combat zone other than air combat.” His interment came two days after the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam war.
 Robert, born July 4, 1947, in Minneapolis, was the son of Robert C. Anderson Sr., and Irene M. Anderson, longtime Hutchinson residents on Lynn Road SW. Rob­ert Sr., foreshadowing his son, had served during World War II in the Army Air Corps, supporting B-29 missions over Japan.
 After retiring from the Army, Robert Jr. settled in Marietta and Smyrna, Ga., becoming a quality control engineer for Lockhead air­craft, helping to produce the C-5A Galaxy aircraft.
 Robert is preceded in death by two wives, Eileen and Nancy, and a son, Kelvin. He is survived by two brothers, Richard of St Louis, Mo., and David of Memphis, Tenn., a daughter Denise, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
