Gary A. Magnuson, 80, of Hutchinson passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at St. Cloud VA Health Care System in St. Cloud. Funeral Service was held Monday, August 25, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with interment in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Gaylord. Military Honors provided by the Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad.

Gary Allan Magnuson was born on April 9, 1945, in Willmar. He was the son of Ellsworth and Dolores (Jacobson) Magnuson. Gary was baptized as an infant at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar and later confirmed in his faith as a youth at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. He received his education in Willmar, and was a graduate with the Willmar High School class of 1963.
Gary entered active military service in the United States Navy on July 20, 1964. Most of the next four years were spent at sea or in foreign areas. He received an Honorable Discharge on July 19, 1968, along with the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. Upon his release from active duty, Gary was transferred to the Naval Reserve until his service was completed on July 19, 1970.
On June 6, 1970, Gary was united in marriage to Nany Severin at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. They resided in Hutchinson. Gary and Nancy shared 46 years of marriage prior to the passing of Nancy on May 28, 2017.
Gary was employed in the supply department at Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing (3M) in Hutchinson. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. He was also a member of American Legion Post 96 in Hutchinson.
Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Gary is survived by his siblings: Kevin Magnuson and his wife Cheryl of Sauk Centre, Debra Roberts of Sauk Centre; in-laws, Jackie Magnuson of Rosemount; Lois Langer and her husband Dean of Maple Grove, LuAnn Clifford and her husband Bob of Mantorville, Marc Severin and his wife Gretchen of Ham Lake; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Ellsworth and Dolores Magnuson; wife, Nancy Magnuson; brother, Verlyn Magnuson; brothers-in-law, Brian Severin, Bruce Severin; sister-in-law Joyce (Severin) (Ben) Sparks.
