Catherine I. Plath, 75, of Hutchinson passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, November 15, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson with interment in Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson. She was raised by her parents. Her father was Lowell Mackedanz.
Cathy was baptized as an infant at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson and later confirmed in her faith as a youth at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church in Silver Lake. She received her education in Silver Lake and was a graduate of Silver Lake High School, class of 1967. On June 6, 1996, Cathy was united in marriage to Gerald Plath at Sandia Crest in Albuquerque, N.M. This marriage was blessed with Cathy’s children, David, Tracy, and Lori, and Gerald’s children, Dena, Leah, and Keta. They resided in Hutchinson. They shared 28 years of marriage. Cathy was employed as a quality controller at 3M in Hutchinson. She retired in 2007. Cathy was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson. She was also a highly regarded member of Hutchinson Lions Club.
Cathy attended Lions International Leadership training in Oakbrook, Ill. She received many recognition awards including Melvin Jones Fellow Progressive Highest (1995-96), the very first Al Jensen Award that was given to a Lion member of less than five years membership (1997-98), International President Appreciation Award (1997-98), Helen Keller Award, District Governor in the years 2002 and 2003, and the Founder’s Membership Growth-District Governor’s Award (2002-2003). Cathy enjoyed spending time at the lake. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Gerald Plath of Hutchinson; children, David Stewart and his wife Dynelle of Albert Lea, Tracy Guthmiller of Hutchinson, Lori Dusoski and her husband Derek of Biscay; stepchildren, Dena Brown and her husband Pat of Kansas City, Mo., Leah Onken of Ortonville, Keta Plath of Ortonville; many grandchildren; many greatgrandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
