Bernard “John” Kummet, 90, of Hutchinson passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Hutchinson Health in Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, October 31, 2025, at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson with interment in the church cemetery.

Bernard “John” John Kummet was born on October 20, 1935, in Richmond. He was the son of Henry and Rose (Widmer) Kummet. John was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith as a youth at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley. He received his education in Eden Valley and was a graduate of Eden Valley High School, class of 1954.
John entered active military service in the United States Army on October 20, 1955. He received an honorable discharge on October 18, 1957, at Fort Devens, Mass., and achieved the rank of Private First Class.
On June 13, 1964, John was united in marriage to Sharon Tappe at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley. This marriage was blessed with one son, Brian. John and Sharon made their home in Hutchinson. They shared 41 years of marriage until Sharon passed away on May 10, 2004.
John was united in marriage to Patricia “Patty” Egan on September 7, 2013, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Shakopee. They shared 10 years of marriage until Patty passed away on February 7, 2024.
John was employed at 3M in Hutchinson as a maintenance mechanic. He retired in 1994. John was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson. He was also a member of American Legion Post 96.
John enjoyed woodworking, hunting and camping. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.

John is survived by his son, Brian Kummet and his wife Jeanne of Aberdeen, S.D.; granddaughter, Destiny Kummet of Aberdeen;stepchildren, Debra Finnessy and her husband Richard of LeClaire, Iowa, Douglas Spaeth and his wife Kristen of Chaska; step-grandchildren, Katherine Munson and her husband Ned, Ryan Finnessy and his wife Kimberly, David Finnessy and his wife Alexandria, Nicholas Spaeth and his wife Kimberly, Maxwell Spaeth and his wife Alyssa, Kathleen VanTieghem and her husband Jared; many other relatives and friends.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Rose Kummet; first wife, Sharon Kummet; second wife, Patricia Kummet; siblings, Laura Kummet, Mary (Jerry) Jander; Brother, Edmund Kummet, Rose Mikolay, Adeline McCarney, George Kummet.
