Dec. 28: Hutchinson Police responded to Walmart for an individual in the men’s bathroom who was believed to need medical attention. Contact was made with Christian Michael Commerford, 38, of Hutchinson, who was suspected to be in a lethargic condition due to inhalation of an unpaid electronic duster spray from the store. The male was found to have an active warrant for parole violation from the Minnesota Department of Corrections for a previous felony DWI. Commerford was taken into custody and transported to McLeod County Jail. He was also trespassed from Walmart.

2024: YEAR IN REVIEW

While it’s always enlightening to look back at the past 12 months, 2024 was a oneof- a-kind year. It was April 4 when Brent Schacherer, general manager, hosted an all-staff meeting. He didn’t mince words. MediaNews Group, a Denver-based media company, which is owned by Alden Global Capital, announced the Hutchinson Leader, Crow River Press and Litchfield Independent Review were closing, as well as six Southwest Minnesota newspapers — Chaska Herald, Chanhassen Villager, Jordan Independent, the Shakopee Valley News, Prior Lake American and Savage Pacer.
