Let’s focus on Christ

125 YEARS AGO: 1899 Sam Dewing is supplying his customers with some of the finest basswood honey ever brought to Hutchinson. The practice of calling the United States government “Uncle Sam” is very common, and it may prove of interest to some readers to know how the appellation originated.

Coming together for the deer
When it comes to raising money, Hutchinson is a clear winner. As everyone knows, the deer at Gopher Campfire Wildlife Sanctuary were in danger of being removed due to new rules issued by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to prevent the spread of chronic wasting disease, or CWD.

For the love of orange
Does it get any better than free admission, free parking and free live music? You bet it does when you’re talking about the 33rd annual Orange Spectacular — the largest Allis-Chalmers tractor, machinery and toy. Norm Grams, president of the the Upper Midwest Allis-Chalmbers Club, credited the longtime success of the show to the desire for keeping the Allis-Chalmers brand alive.
