“It’s just like that scene in the Wizard of Oz!” Victoria Anderson said as she gazed into the sky at the hot air balloon floating above Harmony River in Hutchinson. The former Harmony River employee was among many who watched as the balloon recently made an appearance in a field nearby the senior living facility on the southeast side of town.

Because of that, City Council members and administration believe it’s worth throwing the city’s political might behind an effort to help Gopher Campfire save its threatened deer sanctuary.
Memorial Day is Monday, May 27. Originally known as Decoration Day, it is a federal holiday observed the last Monday of May that honors those who died in service to their country.
Members of McLeod County Voiture 414, 40&8, donated a 10-foot by 15-foot American flag to the Days Inn by Wyndham Hutchinson. The hotel is currently open while undergoing a total refurbishing.
