Hutchinson American Legion Post 96 visited four schools — Hutchinson Middle School, Park Elementary, St. Anastasia and Immanuel Grace Lutheran — Monday in recognition of Veterans Day.
Legion members participating in programs at each of the schools included Commander Diane Jankowski and Vice Commander Lyle Adams, along with Sam Flom and Wes Grieve of the Memorial Rifle Squad.
Izabelle Schwartz will return to the State Class A Swimming and Diving Meet, along with several of her Hutchinson teammates.
Schwartz, a Tigersharks senior,claimed Hutchinson’s only Section 3A championship, winning the 100-yard breaststroke going away. She also finished fourth in the 200 individual medley and helped Hutchinson’s 200 medley relay team earn a state-qualifying time.
As a dairy farming operation on the city’s outskirts prepares for significant expansion, Hutchinson City Council reviewed the proposal during its meeting Tuesday.
Skyview Dairy, which is located within one mile of the city limits on the east side of Hutchinson, already operates the largest feedlot in McLeod County. A conditional use permit application submitted earlier this year seeks to increase its capacity from 2,540 to 3,520 animal units.
